Traditional Jewish Wedding

By Jen Carter A traditional Jewish wedding includes one of the most beautiful ceremonies followed by fun-filled celebration. On their wedding day, Jewish people embrace meaningful rituals which symbolize truth, unity, and the obligations of a husband and wife. In their wedding preparations, a bride (kallah in Hebrew) and her husband (chatan in Hebrew) should reflect and focus on their faith, lineage, material, spirituality, and planning for the future together. A Jewish man and woman should embrace the idea of marriage (called Kiddushin in Hebrew) and be prepared to sanctify themselves together. Jewish weddings typically embrace tradition and celebrate the Jewish faith. The following guide will help explain the sacred day when a Jewish wedding occurs and all of the wedding plans that proceed that very special day: Kabbalat Panim The Week Prior to the Wedding Day Its a Jewish wedding custom for the bride and groom to be seen by anyone but one another during the week prior to their wedding ceremony. During this week, separate receptions called Kabbalat Panim are held prior to the actual wedding itself. During this timethe mother and the bride and groom meet with one another and break a plate together. This is a symbolic tradition. The plate, in a way, represents the relationship. Once shattered in pieces, the plate can not be repaired back to its normal condition. Such is the case with any relationship, once shattered, it can never be returned to its original state. Badeken The Veiling of the Bride The veil symbolizes modesty. Regardless of how physically attractive or unattractive a person may be, the soul and character are forever. Unlike physical beauty, which fades with age. Like (biblical) Rebecca prior to her marriage to Isaac, the veil is an accessory which has become a custom to protect and clothe the wife. The Wedding Considered the happiest and holiest personal day in a Jewish couples life, all past mistakes are forgiven this day. Together the new couple makes their lives together. Its a unification of the soul. At the ceremony, the groom wears a kittel (traditional white robe, also worn on Yom Kippur). The bride and groom are expected to fast until the completion of the marriage ceremony. Jen Carter is owner of My Wedding Blog, a free wedding planner guide. How Well Do You Know Your Clients?

By Mike Yates How Well do You Know Your Clients? Many people new to business often make the classic mistake of creating a product or service out of their personal passion (or talent) then try to sell their product or service into the marketplace without fully understanding the intended customers needs and desires. In other words - they make guesstimate’ assumptions and then jump into business. Their belief being (more often than not) I like it so you will like it as well’. This then leaves them confused when the business they are running is just not working at all after repeated different attempts to get it to fly (or there simply isn’t enough business coming through the door to support their dream). The danger then is to fall into the trap of working harder and harder (longer and longer hours) whilst also finding fault with everything that doesn’t work. This ultimately leads to a serious work / life imbalance, and ultimately stress and illness. So what’s a solution? Focus your thoughts on becoming a hyper-critical thinker. Allow time out every day to ask yourself what you are doing, how you are doing it, who you are doing it for and also (probably most importantly), why they will care. Many people think of the How’ before they think Who’, Why’, Where’ and What’… If you are not seeing consistent growth within your business, then take a look at the level of attention you are paying to one (or all) of the following: Gaining increased sales from your existing clients and databaseMaximising the profitability from your existing sales (upselling)Getting new clients through the doorUnderstanding precisely who your customers are is critical to building any business. Try asking yourself the following questions… If you don’t know the answers yet, make a commitment with yourself to find the resources to get them - maybe via a library, through other business owners (even researching what your competition does well - you may be surprised what you’ll learn), or employ a professional business coach. Ask yourself these questions: Get Critical! Who are my clients? What’s their age? Where do they shop? Learn as much as you can about themWhy do they need my product / service? How will they know when they need it?How will they find out where to obtain it?What experience will they have when they discover it?What will the experience be like when they purchase? Blocking Cell Phones Radio Frequency

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ellango_Narayanan]Ellango Narayanan Blocking Cell Phones at Critical Places This article attempts to inform another innovative way to block radio frequency waves emitted by Cell Phones at Critical Locations. Building owners and Facility Managers who often think that Cell Phones, to some extent are considered as a nuisance may found this piece of information useful . Places like Schools, Cinema Halls and other restricted facilities are trying innovative ways to keep the cell phones on silent mode or closed. However Jamming the signals is also currently being practiced at some high risk locations. Natural Nano has developed a new kind of Paint which claims to absorb the RF Signals from Cell Phones and other devices. The Technology The paint mixture contains copper held inside microscopic nano-tubes of carbon to cover the interior of the walls. Copper absorbs radio-frequency waves including Cell Phones , Pagers and Wi-Fi signals. An indoor antenna picks up the signal from Cell Phones or other devices and sends them to an external antenna through an electronic filter. Two-Way Devices for Essential Communication Using a complementary technology, building managers may selectively override the blocking to allow the use of two-way devices in a room or building. Allowing Specific Frequencies Building Owners can enable transmissions at specific frequencies for critical uses. Emergency Communications including Police, Fire etc., can be allowed to go through by a pre-defined set of frequencies. Meaning and Marketing - The Trigger

By Paul R Snell In previous articles under “Meaning and Marketing”, we have learned about the verb “To Be” and that the name of God is I AM. Stephen Hawkings, the world’s greatest mathematician, and author of several books on science and the Universe, was more or less a bum during his university years in England and some years thereafter. I think he liked to drink. Everybody knew he had the GIFT and so did he. He just wasn’t using it. But then he contracted Lou Gehig’s Disease and that got him moving. What was the difference? Hawkings now faced a MUST and for him — he knew — it was now or never. And this MUST has kept him amazingly alive for many years. Hawkings was facing a Moral Imperative! Scarlett O’Hara in the book and movie, “Gone with the Wind”, is another example. However, she didn’t have a MUST, not really. She manufactured one. Her’s and Margaret Mitchell’s words will ring out forever - - “By God, I’ll never be hungry again!” Or did she say, “I’ll never eat radishes again!?” Her link was “Tara” - the Land. But, of course, her link was more than that. It was Ashley Wilkes. She could care less about Rhett Buttler. Whatever her true links are, they were extremely active in her conscious and sub-conscious will and Scarlett literally storms the gates of Heaven with her demands and I AM is impressed. So are we. Never mind that she is a louse. In the end she will find her true SELF and, to her amazement, her true love — Rhett Butler. So will you. If you don’t face a MUST, you can always manufacture one — if you want to, as Scarlett did. Don’t be fooled. She could have gotten by on radishes, pinto beans, and settled for much less, as most of her neighbors did after the Civil War. She could have lived a very ordinary and miserable life for herself and future family. But that’s not what she wanted, was it? That’s not what she willed. A MUST is a Moral Imperative. It’s now or never. You’ve got to get moving and you know it. What is it you want? Why were you born? What is your destiny? You can only know and find out by allowing your “wheels to hit the road.” Your Domain is — YourHighestandYourBest.com This is the same as — YouAre.com (See Article: “Meaning and Marketing: The Links”) Now let’s pretend YOU ARE 10 pounds of Pure Uranium and fashion you into a perfect solid ball about 5″ in diameter and let’s surround you in an amazingly well fortified container and pack you in a powerful explosive. When the explosive is triggered, the force of the explosion will be directed inward and not outward and compact you at all points a fraction of a second about 5 tons per pixel. The Chain Reaction is then ignited within the sphere of YOURSELF. After that, it’s 10,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit in all directions. Now this is an almost infinitely tiny explosion compared to our Mrs. Patricia Smith (“Eye of the Storm” Article) whose body plus the Door at the speed of light squared was the size of a proton with a mass of 239lbs. I AM used her to fashion a brand new universe. What will I AM do with you? Do you and I really have that kind of power? Yes, we do, if we gain weight. But what seems impossible physically is always possible in our WILLS and in our Imaginations - if we want it to be. And that’s all it takes. Go ahead. Deny yourself your WILL and your Imagination. But to do so is an excuse, and an excuse is always immoral. And so many people choose to be immoral: not having any direction, meaning, or purpose, and so they just get by from day to day. That’s all they do. It’s a smart, safe, but a sad way to live. So if you are in the category of someone who wishes to live by your Will and Imagination — and I am assuming that you are — what are you going to use for your explosive material? Use your Links! I have dozens, even hundreds. Here are some of my links and I am showing you this just to show you what a link looks like: “The King of the Golden River” by John Ruskin, a short story which I read in the 2nd. grade; The death of Ben in Thomas Wolf’s book, “Look Homeward Angel”. Task Force FAITH on the East side of the Chosin Reservoir in the Epic Korean War Battle, Nov. 27 to Dec. 8, 1950. Movies: “Moll Flanders” - a model of endurance and true character. “Solaris” - You will know the price of LOVE. Music: “A Banquet of Voices”, The Cambridge Singers “Vivaldi Concerti” and Baroque Trumpet Music, Nimbus Records, Nimbus Records #7012 My own real life stories: The Roller Derby The Horseshoe Tournament The Fat Man at the Swimming Pool The Mile Run The Penny - (3 very recently found) People - My Heroes… I have dozens and so do you. But how about this one for starters: MyhighestAndMyBest.com/LanceArmstrong Special Numbers that have meaning only for me: $17.01 & $21.01 (the ladder added in the last week) Etc, etc, etc… There is a story behind all my Links. These are the very best kind of Links — the ones with a story behind them, from your very own life. BUT YOU DON’T NEED ANY OF MY LINKS. USE YOUR OWN! Look for your own, find your own - anything that has special meaning for you and that empowers you. Open your eyes. They are everywhere! Surround yourself with YOUR links to your past and present and use them as explosives to blast yourself to a much better future for you and your loved ones. Click on any one of YOUR OWN links and your will and you should arrive at the same place: YOU and your Destiny. YouAre.com YourHighestAndYourBest.com Click on these links and you should arrive or ought to arrive at your Ultimate Link: TheKingdomofIAM.com You don’t believe in GOD? Then just pretend that God is the verb “To Be” and think of God as the way you use the verb “To Be” and all words in your language — as the way and the means you use to communicate with others. Therefore, every time you use your language, you will be acknowledging it’s true Source. If God — I AM — is anything, S/he is communication. Therefore, let us not fail to communicate. After all, this is what Marketing is all about, isn’t it? NOW YOU LACK ONLY ONE THING: A Trigger!!! The Trigger is your Moral Imperative. What is a Trigger? A Trigger can be one of two things: (1) Someone or Something that royally angers you. (2) Someone or something that has exhilarated you and brought to you a very special JOY. When Jesus of Nazareth grew up in Galilee, he looked around him and saw plenty to anger him. And it is the same with you and me. When we look around us, what do we see and what do we care about? And do we not feel a similar anger sometimes? But we can use our anger as a trigger, as many great people have already done. There are dozens of causes that elicit our anger. Choose one and go with it and use YOUR anger as the Trigger. But in truth, the ladder (No. 2 — Joy) may be the best kind of trigger because it has more force and power and you might as well “go for the Gold” in your trigger. This is what many artists have done. Goethe is just one example. Unfortunately, LOVE as a trigger has to do with “Unrequited Love”, as in the case of Scarlett O’Hara, but it is one of the most powerful and energizing forces in the world if you want to make use of it. If you don’t make use of it, it can destroy you. Whom or what have you lost that you cannot recover? Instead of investing your life in sadness and regret and sometimes suicide, turn all that energy around and use it as your Trigger. The only way you can recover what you have lost is by reforming yourself, by re-imagining yourself. When you find your true self, you will have recovered, not only what you have lost, but also much more. You will be and shall become a New Creation. Your point right now is not to succeed, but to begin. To begin, you must have a Trigger — a Moral Imperative — and the best Trigger is unrequited love. But if you don’t have that, unrequited love, then the other kind will do. Don’t be fooled by Scarlett O’Hara. When she was reaching for the gold, she was mostly reaching for Ashley Wilks. She had a double trigger! She had two triggers. She had both kinds. Now that you have your TRIGGER — YouAre.com/Ashley — it’s time to take cover with your compatriots in your foxholes, to join hands, and to pray. Who is there to pull the Trigger? YOU ARE. Use your WILL. (See Article 3: “Meaning and Marketing: The Will”) It’s now Six Trillion, Trillion Degrees and the force of the blast is moving at speeds that trouble the imagination… (See Article 2: “Meaning and Marketing: The Eye of the Storm”) Have a good life. Find yourself. In finding your TRUE SELF, you will find your TRUE LOVE and the world in you and around you will never be the same again. Who knows? Your Unrequited Love may even come to visit you, but only after you have made some money, a whole lot of money. And then, if you want to — but I hope you will not want to — you can tell him/her where to go. You are a Network Marketer. You do want to make alot of money, don’t you? Isn’t that what you want? Isn’t that what you WILL? If not, then why are you in Marketing? Since your are in Marketing, you might as well go for the Gold. If it was good enough for Scarlett O’Hara, it’s good enough for me. And besides all that, I have some “loves” to recover. Don’t you? Go ahead! Pull the Trigger! Begin! The best way to read this article is in sequence with the other articles in this series under “Meaning and Marketing”: (1) The Hurricane; (2) The Eye of the Storm; (3) The Will; (4) The Links; (5) The Trigger “The Sorrows of Young Werther” by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, Intro by Michael Hulse, Penquin Literature; E=MC(uppercase2), a book about Einstein’s most famous mathematical formula Paul Snell lives with his wife, Jean, and younger son, Steven, and their dog Blackie in Lexington, NC. My Own Experience in the Weight Loss Battle - I’m Still and Always Will be Battling the Bulge!

By Susan Mercer My Own Experience To begin with, I have been on a diet my WHOLE life, and now that I look back on some of my years, I definitely did not necessarily need to lose weight even when I thought I did. Although, I suppose that if I hadn’t been watching my weight and dieting, I very well could possibly be much more overweight than I am today. I am 51 and I am overweight - with possibly another 60 or so pounds still to lose. With my most recent endeavor with Weight Watchers, I have lost 24.4lbs since I actually started DOING the diet on February 24th of this year. (This is the first time that I have attended the meetings weekly, without missing a week, and have had a consistent weight loss each week.) I signed up AGAIN last November, and was back and forth on the scale and even skipped some weeks when I felt I hadn’t been good. So what made me FINALLY start doing the plan? I was visiting my sister in Florida and had been at the beach, so when we started taking pictures of me and my two sisters together - I felt OK - (because, unless we’re looking in a mirror or at pictures of ourselves - we look down - and well, we feel that we’re OK I guess). Well, I felt ok, until I saw the pictures floating on my sister’s computer as a screen saver. I immediately told her to PLEASE delete the photo - I thought it looked disgusting! My arm looked like a THIGH! I was on the verge of tears, and decided that when I got home -THAT WAS IT! I AM DOING THIS NOW! As it was, when I got home, my friend Lisa told me that she wanted to join Weight Watchers too, so it became a motivating factor for me to finally follow the plan. She and I did our weigh in, and talked on the phone during the week. She gave me some ideas for recipes (easy stuff) and I shared with her some of my ideas. I can be very motivating to others, but seem to have trouble (mostly in the past) sticking to a diet myself. I don’t know why I can stick to the program this time and hadn’t been able to in the past. I honestly, have always wanted to be thinner, if not even for appearance sake, then for my health. Adult onset Diabetes runs in my family, my mother got diagnosed with it when she was around my age, and actually passed away at age 60 from a diabetic heart attack. My oldest sister, was also diagnosed with it, and is controlling it mostly with diet and exercise. So, needless to say, I may be destined to get it anyway, but with weight loss and more exercise, my chances of surviving it are greatly increased. I CAN tell you that I think that part of my current success is due to the fact that I don’t have to lose weight for any upcoming event! Even as I started this diet in November, it was based on the fact that I was going on a 4 day cruise with my skinny girlfriends in March. So why didn’t I actually follow the program starting in November?? No matter, I finally did start in February - 2 weeks before I was to go on the cruise. Do you know what the BIG event is on a cruise?? THE FOOD!!! The first week I lost 4.6 pounds (so did Lisa!), and the second week I lost 1.2 pounds - so.. if I went on this cruise and ate and drank to my hearts content, I could possibly come home right back where I started!! I was determined that that would NOT happen! I kept telling myself that this was only one week in my life - I could go and have fun, and make good food choices, and the next thing you know I’d be back at work and back into my REAL life again. I had the control, and was the one to make the good or bad choices. I was a woman obsessed! At dinner I passed up on the rolls - and therefore the butter that I usually like with them. I chose fish or chicken over a beef option, and if I got potatoes with the meal, I only ate half of what they gave me. I did have desert every night with my dinner - but I chose the sugar free desert and only ate half. I didn’t have any alcohol drinks until cocktail hour (the girls participated daily by the pool) and only had one or two drinks. (This gave me much more control so as to avoid the late night snacking at the hamburger grill.) I also decided that just because I wasn’t buzzed like my friends that I would STILL have fun participating in the nightly activities of seeing shows, gambling and dancing in the lounges. I also walked 40 mins for 4 of the six days I was away. Do you know that I just might be the ONLY person to EVER go on a cruise and come back to a 1.5 weight LOSS??? I was SO psyched! But it also got rid of the urgency factor for me. No more trips planned, a few holidays, but nothing major to worry about. My sister in Florida has her son’s wedding coming up in October of this year, she is also doing Weight Watchers, (actually started the same week I did and also has a loss of about 20 pounds) and I told her to keep doing what she’s doing - don’t worry about the wedding - it’s only ONE day in her life! If she happens to be slimmer and weigh less when it comes around, then it’s a BONUS! Don’t let the pressure of the date cause an eating FRENZY! I’m feeling better! Some of the clothes I’ve purchased in the past fit until I WASHED them, and then they shrunk! Well, now I’m fitting into those items, and I’ve got lots more new clothes to wear in my closet as I continue to lose. Everyone I’m seeing, even friends I see on a weekly basis, are noticing my weight loss. I say thank you and secretly PRAY that it won’t just pound itself on again. Even though I feel like I’m in control, and that this will finally be the time that I make it to my goal, I still feel like I’m in a fragile state. Honestly, I feel that Weight Watchers is the ONLY way to go. But before I go any further, I need to tell you something! Years ago, when I was going to Weight Watchers, it was held in a church basement. I used to feel totally disgraced by having to go to that basement every week. I always hoped that I wouldn’t see anyone I knew. But things have changed! Attending Weight Watchers, with their new commercials, showing girlfriends going together and supporting each other and having fun with it, has become a “socially acceptable” thing to do! I recently went to dinner with 10 girlfriends to celebrate one of the girl’s birthday - 8 of the 10 were on Weight Watchers! We all talked about the “point values” of our dinner choices and even “shared” so we’d keep on our weight loss track! On Weight Watchers, you can actually eat ANYTHING you want, but with limits. There are two plans you can follow, the Core Plan - where you eat from a list of good foods with no restrictions except to STOP eating when you feel you’ve had enough. THIS WOULD NEVER WORK FOR ME, although some members do have success following this plan. The other plan, the one I use is the FLEX Plan. Everything you eat has points and with an easy way to figure out the point value for all of your foods, you can, again, virtually eat anything your body needs to have. I’ll share with you some of the RULES that I’ve made up for myself: 1. Avoid the rolls (and therefore the butter) 2. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS weigh and measure my portions 3. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS WRITE IT ALL DOWN! 4. I opt for spray butter on all of my veggies - no points - it’s free! 5. DRINK 6-8 GLASSES OF WATER DAILY! (Whenever I’ve eaten too much or had a bad choice of food - I drink extra water - this helps with flushing out. 6. Whenever possible, I have light breads for my sandwiches for lunch, English muffins for breakfast or hot dog or hamburger rolls. 7. I also get wheat instead of white, including pasta. (When it’s cooked, it pretty much tastes the same!) 8. PLAN AHEAD - SHOP DAILY if necessary to have the ingredients and foods that you plan on eating that day. (I usually plan my dinner first - including my desert and late night snack, and THEN plan the rest of the day) 9. Try to get in at least a 20-40 minute walk no less than 3 days per week. My family has been eating pretty much whatever I prepare, and I haven’t had too many complaints. Hubby is losing and so are the kids! As I continue, I hope this has provided some inspiration for you - I know how hard this can be - and I hope you find your inner strength to finally join the “losing” crowd. Good Luck! Susan Mercer is a Professional Photographer, mother of 3 and now a Weight Watcher for life. She knows that even when she reaches her goal weight, she will still be attending Weight Watchers meetings to help her maintain her weight loss. http://walkoffyourpounds.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Susan_Mercer http://EzineArticles.com/?My-Own-Experience-in-the-Weight-Loss-Battle—-Im-Still-and-Always-Will-be-Battling-the-Bulge!&id=216100 earn extra money online loan e-z payday loans in tucson instant payday loans cash advance unsecured high limit credit card bad

3 Easy Tips to Keep Your Skin Healthy

By Amie Gerlowski There are plenty of articles out there about what to do to make your skin look young again. But what if you still have it? How do young women keep their skin looking the way it is now well into the future? The following five easy tips can help you keep your youthful glow. 1. Use Sunscreen, Never Tan. It’s hard for young women to resist the warm glow that a few hours of tanning can bring. But the damage that it does beneath the surface accumulates over time–ultimately leaving the skin dull and thin. By the time premature aging becomes evident, significant amounts of damage has taken place below the surface. Rather than a week of beauty, think of long-term beauty. If you really want to give your skin an added glow, try shimmering lotions and makeups. Or, for a darker look, try artificial tanners (but be careful, they can sometimes leave you looking more orange than tan). Don’t forget that you can experience the damaging effects of the sun even if you aren’t deliberately trying to tan. Make applying sunscreen part of your daily routine. Purchasing moisturizers with sunscreen already in them can help. Remember, only 15 minutes of sun exposure each day provides you with the vitamin D you need to stay healthy. 2. Eat the Right Foods. You’ve always heard the phrase “You are what you eat” and that is exactly right when talking about your skin! What you eat is not just relevant to your weight. It also affects the health of your skin. Clinical studies have shown that eating diets rich in fatty acids and antioxidants can help skin retain its youthful appearance. Foods good for your skin include fish, vegetables, whole grains and fruits including all kinds of berries. Antioxidants in the diet may help reduce the appearance of age spots. Fatty acids are one of the components of metabolic processes within the body that are also integral to the maintenance of healthy skin. Making these foods a part of your daily diet can benefit you for years to come. 3. Clean and Moisturize! Don’t neglect your skin. For normal skin, a gentle daily cleanser is all you need. Using a washcloth needlessly pulls and tears at the skin. Cleanse your skin with your fingers using gentle, circular motions, paying particular attention not to stretch the delicate eye area. Moisturizing the skin is also important to protect it from the effects of the elements including wind, pollution, and sun (if it is a sunscreen moisturizure). Not only does it protect the skin from the outside, but also helps it to retain its natural moisture from the inside. Keep in mind that spending a lot of money is not necessary. If your skin is oily or you have a problem with acne, use products designed specifically for your skin type. You may want to consult a dermatologist to seek prescription treatments. Old-Time Favorites: Plants for Your Garden Worth Remembering

By Nikki Phipps Remember the almost magical feeling of your grandmothers garden, bursting with loads of colorful, fragrant blooms and magnificent foliage? There was always something going on in the garden; and nearly every plant had a specific purpose, whether it was for the kitchen, treating ailments, or keeping up appearances. Gardeners of the past created beautiful landscapes with many of the same plants commonly seen today. Heirloom plants are quite hardy, and many of these vintage flowers have managed to survive on their own throughout centuries, while others have been cultivated into more modern varieties. Nonetheless, these old-time favorites are worth remembering so why not rediscover the past by incorporating some old-fashioned beauties into your own garden. One of my personal favorites has been around since about the 17th century. A spectacular showpiece during the spring, the Lilac has sweet-smelling lavender blossoms. Today, there are numerous cultivars available, including some with yellow or white flowers. Another exceptional plant in its own right is the rose. The modern varieties are typically grown for their form and color; however, the old-garden varieties, such as Tea or Damask roses, are sought after for their intense aromas. While these traditional favorites tend to be more like shrubs and very thorny, they combine well with many perennials, bulbs, and ornamental grasses. Old-garden roses are always the perfect choice for country or cottage gardens. There are many types of plants that are grown for their fragrances. Creeping Thyme is one of them. This beautiful groundcover creates a carpet of scented lavender-pink color and looks just as attractive spilling over stone walls or containers. Keep it near the house for use in the kitchen or making potpourri. You can even grow Creeping Thyme alongside another fragrant old-timerLavender, my grandmothers favorite. Varieties of lavender include unforgettable scents with spikes of lavender to dark purple flowers. Lavender also makes a great groundcover and commonly used in potpourri or massage oils. Garden Heliotrope was once just as popular in the garden as geraniums. These plants, with white or purple vanilla-scented blooms, enjoy plenty of sun and make lovely cut flowers. Who can possibly ignore the sweet aromas on summer evenings radiating from a bed of Petunias? There are numerous colors and varieties, all providing the same charm of long ago. The Sweet Pea has been a long-time favorite in many gardens. This flower is great for cutting and its strong scents will fill the area with pleasant aromas. Although sweet peas generally prefer cool summers and plenty of moisture, there are many varieties which are heat tolerant, allowing virtually anyone the ability to grow them. Feverfew not only smells great, but did you know that its foliage can repel insects, making them a good plant to have around. The plant looks quite at home mixed with old-time roses and foxgloves. I have always enjoyed the honey-scented blooms of Sweet Alyssum. It makes a perfect edging for beds and blends nicely with nearly any type of landscape. Since many old-fashioned gardens were surrounded by fencing, flowering vines were often used to enhance its appearance. They were also used in other areas to help provide much needed shade. Dating back to the 1800s, Clematis has long since been known as a vigorous grower with abundant blooms. Dont limit them to fences; however, they look stunning climbing along a trellis or pergola. The Passion flower can be traced as far back as the 1600s and has religious significance, deriving its name from the crucifixion of Christ. This lovely flowering vine produces masses of scented blooms bearing luscious fruits, and many grow naturally in some areas. The Balloon Vine (love-in-a-puff) was a commonly grown plant in the 1800s, delighting children with its light-green, inflated seed capsules (puffs) that appear after the vines white flowers have faded. While some people may not appreciate its presence, due to its ability to climb anything within reach, the Morning Glory is another unforgettable plant. Morning glories are easy to grow and thrive in all types of soil conditions. Although they can be found growing in the wild, the cultivated varieties are less likely to take over the garden. These beautiful morning bloomers make quite a statement summer through fallwhat a wonderful way to welcome each new day. Numerous annuals and perennials were found growing throughout old-fashioned gardens. As far back as the 1800s, Ageratum has been a garden favorite. The long-lasting, fuzzy blue flowers are great for cutting. Its also a self-sowing plant, popping up in some of the most unlikely of places. Plant them with Heliotrope and sweet alyssum; you wont be disappointed. Poppies are hardy, cool-weather annuals that are easy to grow. These old-time plants prefer fertile, well-drained soil and come in numerous shades and varieties. Once grown for its edible properties, especially for salads, Nasturtiums are among the easiest annuals to grow. You can find them in a variety of colors which will bloom profusely for extended periods. Trailing varieties look great in containers or tumbling down slopes; the compact types are good for use as edging. An old-time favorite loved for its brilliant foliage is Coleus. This plant is ideal for containers or as a colorful edging. No garden is ever complete without Zinnias. These colorful showstoppers are excellent for cut-flower gardens. The interesting flowers and foliage of Foxgloves earn these plants a welcome place in the garden; however, foxgloves are considered poisonous so keep young children away. One look in grandmas garden and youre sure to find some old-fashioned Hollyhocks. These summer-blooming beauties have found popularity in informal country settings or growing alongside fences and other structures. Violets have been around awhile and well loved for some time. They make a good groundcover or grow them in containers. Columbine has been popular since about the 1600s and can be found in white, pink, or blue varieties. Use them as cut flowers or simply mix them in a natural setting with hosta, iris, foxglove, and ladys mantle. Another personal favorite of mine includes the mixed shades of Sweet William. This perennial flower goes well with many plants, such as foxgloves and peonies. Some of the most beloved flower favorites come in the form of bulbs and many are ideal for cutting. Dahlias have lavish blooms during late summer and early fall and are available in a variety of colors. Who doesnt enjoy the lovely blooms and aromas of the Iris? There are numerous varieties to suit nearly any garden. Another old-time favorite with a wide range of colors and growing conditions is the Lily. Lilies have a long history and have been grown for centuries. Cannas have also been popular for their dazzling array of colors. Plant them in masses and enjoy waves of colorful blooms summer through fall. Some of the best plants for your garden, big or small, can be taken from the old-fashioned gardens of the past. These plants have lasted through many generations; and if you want to capture the nostalgia of grandmothers garden in your own, they will continue to do so for many more. Online Dating Advice Avoiding Internet Dating Pitfalls

By Kevin Urban Online dating advice is easy to give, but Ive been amazed by how quickly most people forget the basic rules. Ive been giving free online dating advice because I have two objectives to make sure you are successful with your online dating, and to make sure you stay safe. Below Ive summarized my online dating advice in a handy list. Keep it close to your computer! If you follow these tips, youll discover that your Internet dating experience will be more fruitful and youll be safer. Write a Profile thats the Right Length Too short (just a few sentences) and most people will think you didnt put serious thought into it; too long, and they may not read to the end. Three paragraphs is a good length if you create an interesting snapshot of who you are. Mention some of your interests and past times. Observations such as Id love to travel to Europe sometime, but for now Italian restaurants give me a taste of whats to come, show that youre interesting and have a sense of humor. Dont Reveal Personal Details Never give away personal data like your last name, where you live or even where you work in your profile. Its too easy for someone to find you. While most people online are well-adjusted individuals, you can never be too careful. Until you know someone very well, dont tell them more than they need to know. This is probably the most important online dating advice and safety tip of all meet someone for the first time in a public place. Theres no leeway on this one it provides you an out if you need it. Posting Your Photo And consider this online dating advice: photos are the downfall of many people. One of the most common mistakes is posting a bad photo. You dont have to have a formal portrait done, but you should make sure the photo is a clear, close-up shot without others in the picture. Dont post a photo you obviously took of yourself with your computer cam late at night. Also dont post photos where your ex was obviously cut out of the picture. Please, Please dont Grovel Ive read hundreds of profiles that have phrases like, no games Ive had enough of them, or broken heart needs healed. This kind of stuff smacks of emotional baggage something no one wants to start a relationship having to cope with. Keep Your Initial Emails Friendly and Upbeat No complaints about past relationships or how lonely you are. Instead, make sure the other person sees you as someone who is complete and happy already. If they understand that you want to add someone special to an already fulfilling life, they will be drawn to you as someone who can enhance their own life. Be Honest about Yourself Dont forget this important online dating advice. Fudging the facts on income, what you do for a living or what you like to do, youll only dig yourself into a hole. At some point the truth will come out, and youll have way too much explaining to do. Be Truthful about What Youre Looking For If you want a serious relationship, be honest so that you dont get involved with someone who is only looking for something casual. Youll get hurt and have wasted your own time and theirs. The same goes for the opposite scenario dont lead someone on if you know theyre looking for true love but you just want someone to hang out with for a few months. Pick Up on the Other Persons Cues As you move on to exchanging your actual email addresses or phone numbers, be sure to pick up on the other persons cues. If he or she emails or calls and you have a great chat wonderful! Agree at the end of the conversation when youd like to talk again and stick with it. Dont blow them off a sure sign you arent reliable. On the other hand, dont call earlier or email too often clinging like that is a definite turn-off during what should be a cautious phase. Do Your Homework There are hundreds of dating websites available, and many sites cater to specific groups. If you want a Christian-based relationship, consider a Christian online dating site. If you are looking for something thats purely physical, there are sites that focus on that as well. Dont just randomly pick a site. You may discover that it has lots of members, but not many who have anything in common with you. Finally, dont give up. The best online dating advice I can give is to be patient and try a few different online dating services. It may take some time to find the right person, but along the way you can make some great friends and have some fun.
